A black orb sits atop a hexagon-shaped pedestal base and with a lacquer/granite-like finish. In direct sunlight, the pump is powered by the sun while the battery pack collects and stores a charge. When it's dark, the battery activates to run the fountain, which it can do up to 4 hours when fully charged. When the batteries are depleted, the system automatically tries to draw power from the panel, and resumes running once the sun returns.
